The Israel Defense Forces issued a wide-ranging evacuation order on Monday for residents in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis and its surrounds.
“The IDF is launching an unprecedented attack to destroy the capabilities of terrorist organizations,” IDF Arabic Spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned in a post on the X social media platform.
“Terrorist organizations continue to launch rockets from your areas. The Khan Younis Governorate area is considered a dangerous combat zone. You have been warned several times. Evacuate immediately to the western area [shown on the map].”
Khan Younis is a central terrorist gathering point where the top leadership of Hamas was eliminated in a massive Israeli airstrike earlier this month, including the group’s Gaza chief, Mohammed Sinwar.
A little further to the north, the IDF and ISA (Shin Bet) attacked senior Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists at a command-and-control compound in a former Gaza City school.
The terrorists were using the former Fahmi al-Jirjawi School in Gaza City to organize and carry out terror attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Prior to the attack, Israeli forces took numerous steps – as usual – to reduce the possibility of civilian casualties, using precise munitions, aerial reconnaissance and additional intelligence.
